Things you may require before completing this form:

Depending upon the type and location of your property certain consents may be required before we can consider your request.

    • If your property fronts a classified road then Planning consent will be required. You must obtain this before a vehicle crossing can be installed. You may check your road to determine if it is classified (if your road does not return any information and is not on the list, your road is not classified. If on a 'part' classified road, then planning permission is likely to be required). See our Planning page for details.

    • If you are a Dudley Housing tenant then Housing consent will be required. You must obtain this before a vehicle crossing can be installed. See vehicle crossing/dropped kerb service for further information.

Road markings for vehicle crossings/H bar road markings:

You must request a H mark/bar seperately if required. Dudley Council will determine where a H mark/bar can be used. Where a request to apply/extend a H mark is agreed, this will also incur a charge. See road markings for vehicle crossings/H bar road markings for further information and use the general contact form at the bottom of the page to make a request. See "H" mark fees and charges for current charges.

    Fees:

    • The fee for installation of a standard vehicle crossing is approximately £1000, but this will depend on the specific requirements for your property (a standard crossing comprises of 2 dropped kerbs - known as riser kerbs - and 3 flat kerbs in the centre and reconstruction of 8 square metres).
    • Any traffic management required to install a dropped kerb can range from £350 for two way traffic signals to £1100 for a legal road closure with diversion, this is an additional cost on top of the construction of the crossing.
    • Any Planning consent and H mark/bar fees are separate to this.
    • Following your request, we will need to survey the area and provide you with a quotation.
    • All vehicle crossing applications and extensions are subject to a non-refundable survey fee, which is currently £32.14. This will be chargeable when completing this form to request a vehicle crossing or to request an extension to a vehicle crossing. This fee will be deducted from the quotation fee if you decide to have the work done.

See vehicle crossing fees and charges.
